Referees are needed for our sport to survive as we have good team numbers but not enough referees to cover all games. If you can spare the time, and are willing to referee some games, please contact the stadium on 80876285.
Little Wonder - Keenan Ellis - (Posted: 09 January, 2010)
Keenan Ellis may be just 13 years old but he has already proved that he can match it with basketballers bigger and himself.
The youngster has been selected in the under 15 South Australian Country team after impressing at selection trials held in Adelaide in November. He will travel to Port Macquarie this week to compete against representative teams from State all across Australia in the Pacific Coast Slam.
Althought Keenan is the smallest player in the SA team, he said he would not shirk the issue when he lines up as a Point Guard against his bigger opponents. "I will just try and play like I normally do, drive a lot and shoot the threes." he said. The Keenan family has only recently returned to the city after work committments forced moves to Tasmania and Roxby Downs.
The travel does not seem to have affected him however, and Broken Hill Basketball Association President Grahame Semmens said he had slipped back into local competition seamlessly. "Keenan is one of our very good aspiring juniors", said Grahame.
